Yes. We offer private classes and one-time ceramics experiences for kids, teens, adults, families, and small groups. We can also create instruction around something specific you’d like to learn. Get in touch and tell us a little about what you have in mind.

Small classes mean more hands-on instructor time and more flexibility for each student to work at their own pace. They can be especially helpful for students who find larger or busier classes overwhelming, have sensory considerations, or simply prefer a quieter, more focused environment.

If you’ve wanted to try ceramics but haven’t felt comfortable in a larger class setting, our studio may be a good fit.

We’re a home ceramics studio in SE Portland near SE 50th and Powell. Because the studio is also our home, we share the exact address after booking. If you’d like to see the space before signing up, we’re happy to arrange a studio tour.

Our studio is located in the basement of our home and is accessed by stairs, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. We’re happy to talk through other access needs before class.

Service animals are welcome. Children who work with a DSP or other support person are also welcome to have them attend class; we just require a background check to be on file for any adult participating in a youth class, which we can help arrange ahead of time.

If there’s anything that would help you or your child participate comfortably, please reach out so we can plan for it.

Our youth classes are intended to be drop-off to help maintain a calm, focused studio environment. Parents are welcome to wait in the office or outdoor area if preferred, but the studio space itself is reserved for students during class.

We know things come up. Each class series includes one make-up opportunity for a missed class. Depending on the class and what you missed, we may extend another class session or schedule a separate make-up time so you can stay on track.

If you know you’ll be absent, just let us know as soon as you can so we can figure out what makes the most sense.

We don’t currently offer open studio hours or general access to our studio glazes, but we can fire work made outside the studio as long as the clay and glaze are compatible with our firing temperatures. You’re welcome to glaze your work at home using your own commercial glazes and bring it to us for firing.

If you’re interested in learning to mix or develop your own glazes, we also offer private instruction in glaze mixing and testing.

We aim to have finished work fired and ready for pickup within about two weeks of your final class. Because ceramics requires multiple stages of drying and firing, timing can vary a little, but we’ll let you know as soon as your pieces are ready.
