About
Studio EMRYS is a small, home-based ceramics studio in SE Portland offering classes for kids and adults.
We offer small-group ceramics classes for kids and adults in SE Portland. Classes run in short series and are designed to feel focused and manageable, with a clear structure and space for individual approaches.
Classes are intentionally small so students have time to focus, ask questions, and build skills at their own pace. Because the studio is small, we get to know our students and keep the environment calm and supportive.
Teaching & experience
The studio is run by Jeff Hulme and Zoe Farabaugh, a husband and wife team who teach all of the classes.

Jeff teaches functional handbuilding for kids and wheel throwing classes. His background includes studio practice, production pottery, and ceramic research and development.
-

Zoe teaches sculpture, workshops, and glaze chemistry and materials. Her work focuses on helping students understand how clay and glazes behave through testing and observation.

Working With Kids
The studio is shaped in part by personal experience raising and supporting kids with anxiety and sensory sensitivities. This is not a therapeutic program, but we're thoughtful about how environment and structure affect learning.
Kids classes are small and predictable, with room for individual needs. Our classes are a great fit for kids who prefer smaller groups and quieter learning environments.
